Privacy policy

How we collect, use and protect personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Last updated: 26 September 2026

1. Who we are

SALOUI (Pty) Ltd is a South African technology company. For this website and our services, we are the “responsible party” as defined in POPIA. You can reach us at info@saloui.co.za.

2. Information Officer

Our Information Officer is responsible for how we handle personal information and for responding to requests under POPIA and the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA). Contact the Information Officer at info@saloui.co.za with “Information Officer” in the subject line.

3. What we collect

  • Enquiries: when you contact us or request a quote, we collect your name, organisation, email address, phone number (if you give it), the service you are interested in, any reference number and your message.
  • Client and supplier records: contact details of the people we work with, and the information needed for quotations, contracts, invoices and procurement documents.
  • Website usage: anonymous, aggregated statistics such as page views, referring sites, country and device type. Our analytics does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
  • Technical logs: our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as IP addresses and browser type to keep the website secure and running. These logs are kept for a short period.

We do not ask for special personal information (such as health or biometric data) through this website, and our website is not aimed at children.

4. Cookies

This website does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

5. Why we use your information

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare quotations.
  • To deliver, support and invoice the services you contract us for.
  • To meet legal, tax, procurement and accounting obligations.
  • To keep our website and systems secure and to understand, in aggregate, how the website is used.

We process personal information only where POPIA allows it: with your consent, to take steps toward or perform a contract with you, to comply with the law, or for our legitimate interests where these do not override your rights. We do not sell personal information, and we only send marketing emails to people who have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.

6. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, such as website hosting, email and cloud software providers, and professional advisers such as accountants. They may only use it on our instructions and must keep it secure. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

7. Information stored outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, including our website host, store or process data outside South Africa. Where this happens we use providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements that give protection substantially similar to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires (for example, tax and accounting records). Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted within 24 months.

9. How we protect it

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), multi-factor authentication on our systems, access limited to people who need it, and reputable, security-certified service providers. If a security compromise affects your information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

10. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or unlawfully obtained;
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

To make a request, email info@saloui.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time, and within the timeframes set by law.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. See also our terms of use.
